
Albania has temporarily given recording and monitoring cameras to Kosovo for the October 17 local elections.
The agreement was signed between the CECs of the two countries. There are 50 cameras that Kosovo is lending as part of this agreement and will use them in the Results Counting Center.
According to Celibashi, the use of cameras in the voting centers and vote counting places in the April 25 elections were an added guarantee, while his counterpart Radoniqi stressed that the use of these devices will undermine the integrity of the elections.

Together with Mr. Kreshnik Radoniqi signed on behalf of the CEC of Albania and the CEC of Kosovo the cooperation agreement between our two institutions, which provides for the temporary use by the Kosovar side of the electoral technology implemented by the CEC of the Republic of Albania in the elections of 25 April 2021.
The agreement was signed within the framework of the loan of 50 recording and monitoring cameras used in the April 25 parliamentary elections, to be used in the Counting and Results Center in the October 17 local elections to be held in Kosovo.
I expressed to Mr. Radoniqi was convinced that the monitoring cameras in the voting centers and vote counting places in the 2021 parliamentary elections were an added guarantee for the electoral process and the integrity of the elections.
For his part, the Chairman of the CEC of Kosovo, Kreshnik Radoniqi, underlined that the use of these recording cameras in the NRC would help the CEC of Kosovo in maintaining the integrity of the elections and increasing the credibility of citizens and candidates in the activities that take place in the CNR, as some important processes take place there after the election day, such as the counting of conditional votes, postal votes and recounting of polling stations.
The successful implementation of election technology in Albania's elections has led many countries in the region and beyond to turn to the CEC for expertise related to applications and innovative technology in elections. The CEC of Kosovo intends to use recording and monitoring cameras borrowed from the CEC of Albania in the October elections, to increase security and guarantee the integrity of the vote counting process.
