Paleontologists have identified a new species of dinosaur in northern Mexico that dates back to about 73 million years ago. After first discovering the tail, paleontologists said they later found part of its 1.32-meter skull.
Experts believe that these dinosaurs had the ability to emit loud sounds to scare away predators. "We know they had ears with the ability to hear low-frequency sounds, so they must have been peaceful but 'talkative' dinosaurs," the researchers said.
According to the National Institute of Anthropology and History, the bone shape of the new species, named Tlatolophus galorum, resembles "a symbol used by Mesoamerican people in ancient manuscripts to represent communication and knowledge itself."
