The report of the Task Force set up by Biden does not reach any conclusion
American intelligence services could not reach clear conclusions on the origin of the coronavirus.
The prestigious "Washington Post" writes that the journalists of this daily have seen a copy of the report that was sent to President Joe Biden, which does not give a correct answer to the dilemma of whether COVID-19 was transmitted to humans by bats or accidentally emerged from Wuhan laboratory in China.
Biden in May ordered the creation of a Task Force of intelligence experts with a 90-day deadline to investigate earlier suspicions by US intelligence that the coronavirus may have originated in Chinese virology laboratories. The Washington Post writes that experts need more time to investigate these doubts.
Beijing has accused the United States of politicizing the pandemic to cover up the total failure of efforts to control the spread of the coronavirus.
A team of WHO investigators who visited Wuhan earlier this year found no evidence that the virus emerged from laboratories, but said the most likely track was animal-to-human mutation.
But the head of the investigative team, Peter Embarek, said earlier this month that the most convincing hypothesis so far is that the first infected person is a Wuhan laboratory worker who was infected in 2019 by a bat bite, as studied in a cave that was their habitat.
