The new school year in Kosovo, the lesson on September 13 may not start with physical presence, the decision is made by the government

The Minister of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation in Kosovo, Arbërie Nagavci, has said that despite the fact that educational institutions are prepared for the start of the new school year with physical presence, but after the meeting with officials of the Ministry of Health, she has been recommended to respect the current measures even for a certain period.

"Obviously we will respect the recommendations of health professionals and the final decision on this issue will be decided at the next meeting of the Government", said Nagavci in a post on the Facebook social network.
Due to the worsening of the epidemiological situation, the new school year did not start on September 1 this year in Kosovo, and it was planned to start with physical presence on September 13.

Minister Nagavci has called on teachers and other staff in schools to get vaccinated against the coronavirus.

In the last two months in Kosovo, the health authorities have faced a significant increase in the number of infected people on a daily basis.

The Ministry of Health has announced that 19 victims with coronavirus were registered on Thursday.

According to the Ministry, in the last 24 hours, 703 people infected with this virus were registered, after testing 10.851 samples.

These figures mean that six percent of the people tested have tested positive.

According to the authorities, 2.255 people have recovered while 20.652 people are still active in the coronavirus.

Since the outbreak of the pandemic in March 2020, the health authorities in Kosovo have registered over 154.000 cases of infection.

Of them, 2.728 people have died.

Since the start of the vaccination campaign, 338.147 people have been fully vaccinated against this virus, while 637.132 people have received the first dose.

Until September 9 at 15:00, 18.8 percent of the total population was vaccinated.
