Clashes, incidents and chaos are reported outside the European Parliament building, following protests by farmers. Farmers have thrown objects at police forces. The latter have responded with tear gas.
Protesters have lit smoke bombs and set fire to columns, causing damage to the "Place du Luxembourg" square, in front of the European Parliament.
Thousands of farmers have held demonstrations in opposition to the EU-Mercosur agreement.
They express concern about the prospect of South American products entering the EU and about reforming agricultural subsidies.
