Russian Emergencies Minister Yevgeny Zinichev died during a training exercise in the Arctic. Zinichev, 55, who had headed the high-profile Emergencies Ministry since 2018, died while saving the lives of others.
Zinichev jumped into the water to save a cameraman and both crashed into a rock and died.
The minister was in the Arctic to oversee large-scale exercises and also visited the site where a new fire station was being built in Norilsk.
Before becoming a minister, Zinichev was acting regional governor of Kaliningrad. He previously served as a bodyguard and personal assistant to President Vladimir Putin.
