President Joe Biden has called on citizens for increased caution, asking them to take shelter in more stable houses built by the state for such phenomena because Ida has destructive power and is life-threatening.
The hurricane is ranked fourth in the category of storm strength, while it bears similarities to Katrina, which killed 1800 people in 2005. The danger increases as the strength of the wind will cause large waves in the Gulf of Mexico, putting hundreds of homes at risk of flooding.
