Strongest in 150 years, Louisianans flee their homes

Residents of the southeast coast of the United States are preparing to protect themselves from the effects of Hurricane Ida. With a destructive force generated by a speed of over 220 kilometers per hour, the hurricane is expected to hit the federal state of Louisiana in the coming hours.

Authorities predict it will be the most powerful hurricane in the last 150 years, even stronger than Katrina that killed 2005 New Orleans residents in 1800.

There are thousands of residents of this federal state who are being evacuated from the coastal areas, which will be the hardest hit.

They are refueling the vehicles, making all the necessary purchases that will ensure their daily living for a few days, while they have reinforced the windows and doors.

The hurricane is expected to bring with it heavy rains that are predicted to cause massive flooding and major destruction.

For days, Ida, which is still gathering strength, has hit other islands in the Gulf of Mexico, including Jamaica.
