Modern universities are transcending the traditional role of centers of education and are transforming into institutions that produce development, policy, and innovation.
In this regard, "Haxhi Zeka" University in Peja is strongly positioning itself towards the University 4.0 model, where teaching, scientific research, technology and entrepreneurship interact as an integrated whole.
At the center of this transformation is the Triple Helix model, which brings together university, government, and industry to create innovative ecosystems.
This model, based on interconnected and non-linear cooperation, aims for academic research, public policies, and the market to function as complementary mechanisms for socio-economic development.
"Haxhi Zeka" University has undertaken a series of initiatives that have transformed it into a key actor in regional development in Dukagjin. Among the main initiatives are:
Establishment of FERD, regional mechanism of institutional and economic cooperation;
The creation of UNI NOVA, the university innovation and entrepreneurship center;
Strengthening cooperation with the municipalities of Dukagjini;
Expanding academic partnerships with European universities;
Deeper integration with industry and the labor market.
These steps have positioned UHZ as an institution that now offers not only education, but also concrete economic and social development.
FERD, founded by UHZ, has created a new model of cooperation between municipalities, businesses and the university.
This structure is putting the Triple Helix model into practice, through analyses, consultations and joint development projects in Dukagjin.
UNI NOVA, as a company owned by UHZ, represents an important innovation in higher education in Kosovo. It provides the university with the flexibility to:
development of innovation projects,
supporting student startups,
the creation of academic spin-offs,
knowledge transfer to the market, international collaborations in technology and innovation.
Through this structure, UHZ strongly enters the orbit of modern universities of the 4.0 model.
UHZ has established functional relationships with the municipalities of Peja, Istog, Klina, Deçan, Gjakova, Malisheva, Rahovec and Junik. The university is involved in the planning processes of education, labor market and economic development.
At the same time, Dukagjini businesses see UHZ as a strategic partner. The university has created the Tourism and Hotel Market Barometer, the first in the country, and is developing the National Labor Market Barometer, an instrument that is expected to influence national employment policies.
UHZ has significantly expanded its collaborations with renowned universities in Kosovo, the region, and Europe, creating new opportunities for mobility, international projects, and professional development for students and staff.
University 4.0 – the new identity of UHZ
With innovative structures such as FERD and UNI NOVA, strategic partnerships, and a modern academic approach, UHZ is building the profile of a University 4.0 — an institution that produces knowledge, innovation, and development.
In this way, "Haxhi Zeka" University is no longer just an educational center, but is becoming an engine of innovation, a center of regional development and one of the most advanced university models in Kosovo.
