"I love him and he loves me", the woman falls in love with a chimpanzee, but this romance is forbidden

A woman named Adie Timmermans has been a regular visitor to a zoo in Belgium and has become very attached to a chimpanzee who has been visiting her regularly for 4 years. She said that she fell in love with the 38-year-old chimpanzee, but this news was not well received by the director of the zoo, banning her visits.

The woman claims that she and Chita would be very upset if they never saw each other again.

Adie is said to have said: “I love that animal and he loves me. I have nothing else. Why do they want to take him away from me?"

During their meetings there were kisses through the protective glass of the chimpanzees. Zoo officials have said that Chita is with the other chimpanzees most of the day and that he should be socialized as much as possible.

"An animal that is too focused on humans is less respected by its peers. We want Chita to be a chimpanzee like the others. He should stay with his group and give him a chance to be happy.", he said.

Chita was reportedly raised as a pet and given to a zoo when it became too large and unmanageable. Since then he has not adapted easily to other chimpanzees and has had fights including one in which he injured his back in 2008.

The zoo has said Adie will not be welcome at the zoo if she continues to see Chita, but Adie doesn't think she's doing anything wrong.

"Chita is 38 years old and has been used to people from a young age. On average, chimpanzees live up to 40 years, so his behavior will not change now." said Adie. /tvklan.al
