The last farewell was given to Marigona Osmani, the 18-year-old who lost her life after being tortured by her husband, Dardan Krivaça.
The Prime Minister Albin Kurti, the Minister of Justice, Albulena Haxhiu, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Xhelal Sveçla, the director of the Kosovo Police, Samedin Mehmeti and other members of the LVV also participated in this funeral ceremony.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, said that the whole country is shocked by the tragic murder of the 18-year-old girl from Ferizaj. He added that Marigona Osmani will rest in peace only when justice will be done for her case.
"The life of an 18-year-old girl was cut short by a cruel murder. An hour and a half ago, the suspect for the murder that shocked all of Kosovo was arrested and now he must have a fair trial and deserved punishment. This shows how much work we have ahead of us to run the justice system. In order to act without delay, judge fairly and punish criminals and wrongdoers in general", stated Kurti.
In front of family members and other citizens participating in Marigona's funeral ceremony, he said that the current government since the beginning of the mandate has started the initiative for legal infrastructure to avoid these cases.
"We have prepared the new law for the protection of victims and protection from domestic violence, as well as the new national strategy for protection from domestic violence. In the first six months of this year, 1063 women and girls reported domestic violence.
This shows that trust in institutions has increased, but at the same time that our institutional responsibility should be higher than ever before. I know you all have the inevitable sadness and pain and sorrow, but being sad and upset at the same time, none of us will be able to turn back time and resurrect Marigona.
You must keep the best memories that you probably have countless yesterday, let's commit together so that cases like the cruel murder of Marigona Osmani will never hit our people and your family again", he asserted. On behalf of the family, cousin Fetush Osmani has demanded justice for Marigona.
"Today we have a pain, a very great sorrow. But this presence of yours, starting from the organs and all of you who are here, makes it easier for us to share this great pain together. Therefore, once again, I believe with full faith that the bodies of Kosovo will bring justice to the end. Inshallah or God willing, this will be the last case and her final word will be 'Stop'. Because young people need to enjoy freedom, to enjoy justice, they need to enjoy happiness", he said.
Marigona Osmani was sent to Ferizaj Emergency on Sunday without signs of life. The girl was sent by her husband Dardan Krivaça and Arbër Sejdiu. Krivaça was on the run since Sunday, while today he was arrested by the Kosovo Police.
