Donald Trump has announced a “total and complete blockade” of all oil tankers carrying oil to and from Venezuela, claiming that the country is surrounded by the largest naval force ever deployed in South America and accusing the regime of Nicolas Maduro of terrorism, drug trafficking and human trafficking. In a statement, Donald Trump claims that Venezuela is “totally surrounded” by an unprecedented naval military force, which, as he notes, “will continue to grow”. According to him, the pressure that Caracas will face will be “like it has never experienced before” until “all the oil, land and assets” that, according to him, have been illegally taken by American interests are returned to the United States.
Trump describes the regime of Nicolas Maduro as “illegitimate” and accuses it of using revenues from “stolen oil fields” to finance, among other things, “narcoterrorism, human trafficking, murder and kidnapping.” For these reasons, as well as for “terrorism, drug trafficking and human trafficking,” as he claims, the Venezuelan government has been designated by the US as a “Foreign Terrorist Organization.”
In this context, Donald Trump announces that he is ordering a "total and complete blockade of all oil tankers under sanctions" both when entering and leaving Venezuela, without providing further details on the method of implementation or the duration of the measure.
At the same time, he refers to the issue of immigration, claiming that "illegal immigrants and criminals" who, according to him, were sent to the United States by the Maduro regime during the Joe Biden administration, are now returning "at a rapid pace" to Venezuela.
“America will not allow criminals, terrorists or other nations to rob, threaten or harm our nation,” Trump says, adding that the United States will not tolerate “a hostile regime” that, as he says, appropriates American oil, land or other assets. Finally, he calls for the “immediate” return of all disputed assets to the United States.
