Dozens of minibus drivers today blocked the road in front of the Gostivar Municipality, expressing their revolt over the municipality's failure to pay debts.
Over 30 transporters, engaged in the transportation of students, declare that they have not received payments since March, while the municipality's debt to them amounts to tens of thousands of euros.
"We came to ask for our money. Last year, they didn't give us the third month. After we announced the protest, they only gave us the payment for the third month, but last year, we haven't been paid for the third, fourth, fifth and sixth months, last year we haven't been paid, and now since we started we haven't been paid. I alone have ten people, there are over 30 of us. We have transported the students, we have received fuel, and the debt to me alone is about 80,000 euros," said Zulgani Rufati, Transporter.
"The Municipality of Gostivar has not paid us since March, today they informed us that they have released money for a month, but to date we have not seen a single denar. We will continue to boycott until the funds are released to us. We are seeking clarification from the Municipality, they say they have no money," said Tërpkush Serafimovski, Transporter.
"If they don't pay us until the new year to clean everything up, we will block the road and the municipality every day and we will block the workers and not let them get to work. We have huge expenses, defects, but we students have done what we did, we bring the students on time, and they make fun of us, they lie to us, today and tomorrow they will only lie to us. We will not continue to transport the students. Plus, we will go to the houses of the municipality workers and let them know that this is no longer tolerated," emphasized Xhemail Xhemaili, Transporter.
