The Taliban said they have taken full control of Panjshir province, the last area in Afghanistan controlled by resistance forces.
But the latter rejected the claims of the militant group.
It is currently impossible to secure independent eyewitness confirmations, as the Taliban have cut phone lines, internet and electricity.
The Taleans took control of most of Afghanistan three weeks ago.
Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid has claimed that the group has taken control of Panjshir province. The valley "has been completely cleared today," he told a news conference in Kabul.
The Taliban spokesman is asking the international community to help them rebuild Afghanistan.
He called on countries to continue humanitarian aid, while trying to reassure Afghans that the situation in the country would slowly return to normal and the economy would improve. The Taliban spokesman said domestic flights had resumed and added that the group was waiting to see when international flights could resume.
