The Taliban allow foreigners to leave

At least 200 US citizens and others remain in Afghanistan

Two hundred Americans and other foreigners remaining in Afghanistan will leave the war-torn country on chartered flights from Kabul after the new Taliban government agreed to their evacuation.

These will be among the first international flights to depart from Kabul airport since Islamist militias seized the capital in mid-August, prompting a chaotic US-led evacuation of 124,000 foreigners and at-risk Afghans.

This decision comes after the Taliban introduced their new government. But the international community has been concerned because dubious figures have been appointed to political positions, and there are only men in the cabinet.

The new government has been seen as a signal that their regime will not be more tolerant and moderate as they had warned before taking power.

Many countries have called on the Taliban government to respect basic human rights, revive the economy, which is facing collapse.

Earlier, the European Union has stated that it is determined not to recognize the Taliban, but has said that it is ready to continue humanitarian aid to Afghanistan.
