Afghanistan was the first country to recognize Kosovo's independence. On February 17, 2008, just a few hours after the Declaration of Independence, distant Afghanistan became the first country to 'break the ice' and recognize Kosovo.
The day after, it would be Costa Rica, Albania, the United Kingdom, the USA, Turkey or France that would follow.
Today Afghanistan is in great danger of population exodus and Kosovo has responded positively to the request to shelter some Afghan refugees.
