Anthony Fauci: The pandemic can be brought under control if more citizens are vaccinated
The United States of America can bring the COVID-19 pandemic under control by early next year if the majority of citizens are vaccinated.
This is what the leading expert on infectious diseases in the USA, Anthony Fauci, declares.
His statement comes a day after the federal government gave full approval to the Pfizer/BioNtech vaccine, making it the first vaccine to prevent COVID-19.
He added that the Moderna vaccine will receive full approval and be done within this week. The US military, some businesses, universities and other organizations have begun to make vaccination mandatory.
The United States is battling another wave of cases due to the highly contagious Delta variant. Hospitalizations and deaths are also rising, especially in Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas and other parts of the US South.
Meanwhile, the White House is preparing to provide third "booster" doses starting in mid-September to Americans who received their COVID-19 vaccination more than eight months ago.
Earlier, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, asked the private sector and local governments to order their employees to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.
