55 firefighters were trapped by the fire in the Nizhny Novgorod region
Massive fires have engulfed several regions in Russia. Firefighters who have been fighting the flames for hours risked their lives as they were trapped by the rapid spread of flames.
55 firefighters had a miraculous escape when flames engulfed a forest bordering the Nizhny Novgorod region.
Employees of the Russian Emergencies Ministry and military personnel of the Ministry of Defense were surrounded by flames as they tried to bring the fire under control.
Suddenly, the wind picked up and the fire took on a terrifying shape, spreading rapidly and surrounding the whole group to leave no chance of escape for them.
Thanks to extraordinary efforts, the fire was brought under control before firefighters were suffocated by smoke.
To help, a second group of firefighters was immediately sent to the scene as anxiety grew more and more for the trapped firefighters.
Despite the extremely difficult situation, after a few hours the road for their evacuation and the machines was opened again and their complete evacuation could be done safely.
