Russia and Ukraine exchange drone attacks, explosions in several cities

Explosions were recorded overnight at an oil refinery in the Russian city of Slavyansk-on-Kuban, following a suspected drone attack from Ukraine, the Kyiv Independent newspaper reported.

Slavyansk-on-Kuban is located in southern Russia, near the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea, several hundred kilometers from the northeastern border with Ukraine. Russian authorities have not yet provided official details on damage or possible casualties.

Meanwhile, explosions were also heard in the Ukrainian capital Kiev, following a Russian drone strike. Kiev Mayor Vitalii Klitschko announced via Telegram that air defenses had been activated in the Obolonskyi neighborhood.

"Air defenses are in operation in the Obolonskyi district, as explosions shake the city," Klitschko wrote, urging citizens to stay in shelters.

The situation remains tense, as both sides continue airstrikes as part of the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
