Court lifts state restrictions on Covid-19

Not only in Barcelona, but also in other cities of Spain, people took to the squares celebrating the lifting of austerity measures against Covid-19.

The citizens say that they want them to celebrate because they have passed a year without holidays and now that most of them have been vaccinated they want to enjoy the freedom to forget the isolation for a few months.

A Spanish court lifted the curfew imposed on most of Catalonia, including the capital Barcelona.

The government of Catalonia had in mid-July imposed a curfew between 01:00 at night and 06:00 in the morning in most municipalities to combat the increase in cases of those infected with the coronavirus.

When Catalonia imposed the curfew in mid-July, it had an infection rate double Spain's national average, with more than 1.000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in 14 days.

This figure has fallen. In Barcelona, Spain's second-largest city, the rate has dropped to 130 cases per 100,000 people.

Spain has fully vaccinated with two doses 64.1% of its population against the virus, one of the highest levels in Europe.

Meanwhile, in Martinique, France, military troops were deployed to bring the situation under control at a hospital overflowing with COVID-19 patients. The operatives were sent from France and set up up to 20 health centers in just a few days.

In the Netherlands, several hundred performers and festival organizers defied the government and held musical protests against what they called unfair restrictions.

The government has declared that such events will be banned until the end of September, in an effort to prevent the spread of the "Delta" broadcasting variant. In the United Kingdom, not only adults, but also children are being tested for antibodies to officialize the number of unvaccinated young people who have developed natural protection against the coronavirus on the eve of the new school year.
