Over 266 thousand new cases, mostly unvaccinated
The United States recorded the highest number of daily infections since January 10. Over 266 new infections were recorded in this 24-hour period, which is not only the record of the last 7 months, but also the third highest number of daily infections of about 1 and a half years of the coronavirus pandemic.
Health authorities said cases of new infections are particularly widespread in Florida and other southern states.
The unvaccinated are mainly affected. The Delta variant dominates, since it is precisely in this category that the number of victims has increased. The Pentagon is readying new regulations aimed at fully vaccinating US military personnel, after the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) gave full approval to the Pfizer vaccine for use.
The numbers of infections in Great Britain and all of Europe continue to be stable, where there is no increase in the number of victims from the circulation of the Delta variant, thanks to the protection created by mass vaccination.
Next to the records are the numbers of victims in Russia, where 794 deaths were registered this Tuesday.
