The two rival groups of the extreme right and left draw their weapons
The right-wing protest in Portland came to a head when anti-fascist demonstrators returned fire with fire on a downtown street. The Portland Police Bureau confirmed that a man had been arrested in connection with the shooting.
The clash came after around 200 members of far-right groups organized a rally dubbed the "summer of love".

They were holding pistols and were also armed with clubs, baseball bats and bottles of chemicals.
Police Chief Chuck Lovell said the officers did not intend to intervene to separate the rival groups, but the intervention was necessary.

Since last year, Portland has become an arena for clashes between political extremists.
The clashes came on the anniversary of another clash between right-wing and left-wing crowds in downtown Portland, which followed the killing of George Floyd, a black man by a Minneapolis police officer.
