Hurricane Ida has caused flooding and tornadoes across the northeastern US killing many people and devastating several states. New York City and New Jersey have been hit by unprecedented levels of rainfall. Residents were trapped in their homes by the water level.

Due to the storm, tornadoes were created that damaged houses. The BBC has released satellite images taken by Maxar that show the extent of the destruction in New Jersey.

The city of New Brunswick in New Jersey was hit hard by the storm. The streets of Manville were also flooded. Tornadoes destroyed several homes in Mullica Hill within seconds.

President Joe Biden has declared a state of emergency in New Jersey and New York. Ida arrived in New Orleans on August 26, 16 years after Hurricane Katrina followed the same path in 2005, a path that killed 1800 people.tvklan.al
