Osmani congratulates ASHAK on its 50th anniversary: ​​The Academy, the foundation of our knowledge and national identity

The Kosovo Academy of Sciences and Arts marked the 50th anniversary of its founding, a jubilee anniversary that was commemorated with a special ceremony, attended by representatives of Kosovo institutions, academics from the region and Europe.

In her speech, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, thanked the founders and academics who have worked in extremely difficult circumstances, contributing to the preservation of language, culture and national interest.


She emphasized the role of the Academy in the political, educational and cultural formation of Kosovo, connecting the state with world centers of knowledge and articulating the ideas that have guided the country's path towards a modern and integrated society.

The President recalled the historical figures who have contributed to the Academy, including the first president Esad Mekuli and academician Gazmend Zajmi, as well as the historical president Dr. Ibrahim Rugova, underlining that the Academy has always been the place where academic thought and national aspirations have met to build the state and society.

She also praised the inter-academic cooperation with the Academy of Sciences of Albania, considering it a strategic investment for strengthening knowledge and science at the national and regional level.

Ttuje added that the Academy's mission is to preserve collective memory, document history, and prevent the distortion of historical truth about the crimes committed by the Serbian regime in Kosovo.

Osmani thanked all academics, with special appreciation for the engaged women, and congratulated the 50th anniversary of the Kosovo Academy of Sciences and Arts, considering this anniversary as a testament to the power of knowledge, culture and dedication in shaping the state and national identity of Kosovo.
