Albanian opposition holds national protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office

The Democratic Party's protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office started about 20 minutes later than the announced time.

Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha joined supporters gathered on the boulevard, walking from the DP headquarters, accompanied by vice-chairs Flamur Noka and Oerd Bylykbashi.

He was greeted with ovations and chants of "O Sali, O hero, all of Albania loves you" from his supporters.

1400 police forces are engaged in the field to ensure the smooth running of the opposition protest, for which only the departure time has been announced, 18:00 PM, while it is not known how long it will last.

Police have announced that due to the protest, which starts at 18:00 PM, there will be restrictions on several roads.

According to the announcement, parking on some streets will not be allowed from 14:00 p.m. Specifically, parking is not allowed on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" boulevard, on "Mother Teresa" square, on "Ismail Qemali" street, from the intersection of Elbasani Street with "Ibrahim Rrugova" street, on "Papa Gjon Pali II" street, on "Jeanne D'Ark" boulevard and "Bajram Curri" boulevard, from the intersection of Elbasani Street with "Ibrahim Rugova" street.

Also, from 14:00 PM, there will be a traffic jam on "Dëshmorët e Kombit" Boulevard, from the intersection near the Ministry of Interior to "Mother Teresa" Square, as well as on "Ukraine e Lirë", "Papa John Paul II" and "Ismail Qemali" streets.

The US embassy has repeatedly advised its personnel to avoid the protest through a distributed notice.
