Allegations are being made against messaging app WeChat

Prosecutors in Beijing have filed charges against Tencent, which they say messaging app WeChat's Youth Mode does not comply with laws protecting minors.

But according to the company, the youth version of the app prevents users from accessing payments, playing certain games and finding nearby friends. However, prosecutors have said that this program violates China's laws.

Tencent in a statement it has been announced that they are studying the claims and accusations that have been raised against them.

WeChat, known as Weixin in China, has about 1.26 billion monthly active users. But after the charges were brought by prosecutors in China, the company's shares fell by nearly 10%.
