A confused little girl sat on her father's arms as he was reprimanded by two police officers for not wearing a mask during a period where cases of Covid-19 have increased.
But he was unable to comfort her as he was handcuffed with his arms behind his back, lying on the ground in a park in Sydney's south-west.
The 31-year-old father was stopped by police on a footpath at Garrison Point Reserve, in George's Hall, at around 14pm on Saturday.
Police alleged he became verbally abusive and aggressive towards officers when they spoke to him about not wearing a mask.
"Officers warned the man numerous times about his behavior before he was arrested," NS Police told Daily Mail Australia.
Video shot by a bystander who stopped to intervene shows the man screaming as officers tell him to calm down.
"Come on guys, be a little fair. He has a daughter here, she is alone. Look, the little girl is afraid." said the person who was filming.
The officers tell the man who was filming to calm down and they will explain the situation to him after they finish talking to the father.
"He has committed an offence," says the officer.
"He did not commit a criminal act, I went through and saw everything", objected the man filming.
The father tells one of the officers that he will not speak to them as long as his daughter is standing by his side. The person who is filming tries to convince the police not to arrest him, they tell him that they are arresting him because he is not wearing a mask. The 31-year-old father told him that he was taking the little girl to his sister-in-law and was going to run in the park, that's why he didn't take the mask with him.
While his little daughter was sitting on his lap and was all the time confused in front of the police. So they were forced to remove his handcuffs and release him, but the masked man was fined for this act. /tvklan.al
