The former EU commissioner wants to be the next president of France
Former EU Commissioner Michel Barnie wants to be the next president of France.
He announced his candidacy for the presidential elections of 2022. The 70-year-old former EU Brexit negotiator is an MP and a member of the Republican party.
"I made the decision to be a candidate for the presidential elections next April," said Michel Barnier.
"I intend to be president of a united France, to ensure respect for the French and for France. " he continued.
The French politician stated that he wants to lead France in a very difficult time in the face of a dangerous and unstable world.
The former minister of Jacques Chirac and Nicolas Sarkozy is known for his skills and experience as a former European Commissioner, but the elections of April 10, 2022 will show what his chances will be in front of the current head of state, Emmanuel Macron.
