A passenger's cell phone on an Alaska Airlines jet caught fire as the plane landed at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, forcing the crew to evacuate all passengers.
An airline spokesman said the passenger's phone overheated and started beeping after the flight from New Orleans landed at the airport around 20:30 p.m. Monday and was waiting to disembark.
Staff used fire extinguishers and a battery insulation bag to stop the smoke from the phone. However, they were forced to evacuate the passengers using the emergency exits due to the situation inside the cabin.
