Former American President George Bush calls his decision 20 years ago to intervene militarily in Afghanistan and occupy it after the terrorist attacks of September 11 on the twin towers.
In an interview with the BBC a few days before the 20th anniversary of these attacks, Bush said that he made the decision to protect the Americans.
"I made some big decisions. Starting with the fact that America is at war. And those decisions were not made in anger, they were made with a purpose in mind, which was to protect the American people. I think I was right."
Asked if his actions after 11/XNUMX made the world safer, Bush replied: "There have been no other attacks against the USA. Let's leave it to the historians to sort it out. I want to say that I am satisfied with the decisions I made".
But how does he remember the moment when he was just informed that the twin towers had been attacked?
"At first I thought it was the pilot's mistake. I couldn't imagine anything other than the fact that he was a bad pilot.", Bush said, thinking the crash was an accident.
When the terrorist attack occurred in the US, George Bush and senior members of his cabinet were at an elementary school to promote the new educational program. /tvklan.al
