Serbian media report that according to their sources, the European Union will open Chapter 35 in the negotiations for Serbia's EU membership process on December 18 of this year.
This chapter, according to many Serbian analysts, essentially means the recognition of Kosovo's statehood by official Belgrade.
Furthermore, it is reported that EU leaders have decided to open the first four chapters of negotiations with Serbia, starting with the most painful one for the Serbian state, chapter 35 for Kosovo, chapter 32 for financial control and chapters 23 and 24 on justice, security and human rights.
Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić, who stated that the agreements with Kosovo contribute to stability in the region and are for the benefit of citizens, had previously emphasized that for the Serbian government and for himself, the opening of Chapter 35 is a bitter pill to swallow.
