Joanikije II officially took office today as bishop of the metropolis in Cetinje Monastery, despite great dissatisfaction and protests from Montenegrin citizens. During the assumption of office, nationalist songs were also sung by the priests and by Joanikije himself, where the emphasis was placed on the return of the Serbian army to Kosovo:
"Kad se vojska na Kosovo vrati...!"
Joanikije II is a Serbian Orthodox metropolitan bishop serving as the Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Coast and Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church in Montenegro since May 2021, previously he served as administrator of the same diocese from October 2020 and the death of his predecessor Amfilohije, who was known as an ultra-nationalist Serb and a great supporter of Russia. Metropolitan Bishop Joanikije also belongs to the same line as his predecessor.
