State Commission for the Prevention of Corruption (SCPC) announces that all mayors elected in the 2025 local elections are required to declare their assets no later than 30 days from election day.
As announced by the Kosovo Public Prosecutor's Office, 19 mayors elected in the October 2025 elections have not done this.
"In accordance with Article 82, paragraph 1 of the Law on the Prevention of Corruption and Conflict of Interest, all elected mayors of municipalities in the 2025 Local Elections are obliged, no later than 30 days from election day, to submit a declaration of assets and interests."
"Also, in accordance with Article 82, paragraph 3 of the aforementioned law, upon termination of the mayor's office, they are obliged to submit a declaration of their financial situation."
"The CPK has checked the register of assets and interests and found the following: 35 people, after the end of their term as mayor, have not submitted a declaration of assets and interests; and 19 people, after being elected as mayor, have not submitted a declaration of assets and interests for whom procedures will be initiated in accordance with the law, by issuing a payment order for a minor offense," the CPK says.
They also say that they will monitor the situation and for all listed persons who continue to fail to fulfill their legal obligation to submit declarations, procedures will be initiated to verify their assets and interests.
