Brazil's Congress on Wednesday approved a bill that would reduce the sentence of far-right former President Jair Bolsonaro, who was sentenced to 27 years in prison and jailed last month for an attempted coup.
The bill, which was passed by the conservative majority in Congress, could lead to his sentence being reduced to 2 years and 4 months in prison.
The current center-left president, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, has the right to veto the law, which can however be overturned if a qualified majority is gathered in parliament.
