President-elect Joe Biden has unveiled a $1.9 trillion stimulus plan for the US coronavirus economy before he takes office next week.
If passed by Congress, it would include $1tn for families, with direct payments of $1,400 to all Americans.
The aid proposal includes $415 billion to fight the virus and $440 billion for small businesses.
Mr. Biden has promised to beat the pandemic that has killed more than 385,000 people in the U.S.
He campaigned last year vowing to do a better job of handling the virus than outgoing President Donald Trump.
The $1,400 in direct payments would come on top of the $600 in payments provided for in a relief bill passed last month.
Mr. Biden's proposal comes as a record-breaking winter spike in coronavirus cases.
Each day brings more than 200,000 new cases in the US and the daily death toll sometimes reaches 4,000.
