This is the second conversation between the two political leaders after 7 months
Chinese President Xi Jinping received a phone call from his American counterpart Joe Biden and the two leaders discussed bilateral relations with each other.
This is only their second conversation in seven months since Biden took office as president in January.
In a statement issued by the White House, it is said that the two leaders have spoken to ensure that the competition between the two powers does not turn into a conflict.
Calling US-China ties the most important bilateral relationship, the head of the house said that the US is ready to develop a sincere and constructive dialogue with China.
The American president stated that in order to bring US-China relations on the right track, all misunderstandings, misjudgments and conflicts must be avoided.
US-China relations are strained over a range of issues, including trade, espionage and human rights.
The US also criticizes China for a lack of transparency regarding the origin of the coronavirus, issues related to Taiwan and territorial disputes in the South China Sea.
The two presidents agreed to maintain continuous contact and create favorable conditions for the development of China-US relations.
