The president has faced criticism as hundreds of Americans are still in Afghanistan
The US will not recognize Afghanistan's new government.

As for what will happen to the fate of the Afghans who are trapped there, Biden chose to remain silent, giving no comment.
US President Joe Biden's administration is facing mounting criticism amid reports that several hundred people, including Americans, have been barred for a week from flying out of an airport in northern Afghanistan.
More than 120,000 people were evacuated from Afghanistan in one of the largest air operations in history, although US officials admitted they had left several hundred Americans behind, along with many Afghan citizens who worked for the US.
The Biden administration has repeatedly vowed to do everything possible to help those who want to leave.
