About 3.790 people were vaccinated with Moderna's contaminated vaccines
Japan has suspended some of Moderna's anti-Covid vaccines after a foreign substance was found in the vaccine bottles. This is not the first time such incidents have been reported with the Moderna vaccine, as this is the fourth in less than a week, thus risking slowing down the vaccination campaign in the country.
Local media reports that so far there is no evidence of any health problems caused by this vaccine. It is learned that about 3.790 people have received at least one dose from the group of vaccines that have proved problematic. An investigation was immediately launched by the health authority on the matter in question, which will reveal all the details of the event.
On Tuesday, Japan's health minister said the foreign matter found was caused by needles inserted into vaccine bottles by mistake. Last week, Japan suspended the use of about 1,63 million doses of the Moderna vaccine because of contamination.
Such incidents are occurring as Japan faces its worst wave of infections. The Delta variant is responsible for increasing daily infections with Covid-19. Rising cases in Japan have caused the health system to collapse as many citizens are being treated in their homes as hospital beds are overcrowded.
So far in Japan, 45.4% of its population has been fully vaccinated.
