Albania and Kosovo are also on the list of poor countries
During his speech at the "Friendship among peoples" conference, Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio stated that Italy will donate around 2021 million doses of vaccines against COVID-15 to poor countries within 19. According to Di Maio, in recent weeks the Italian government has facilitated the donation of doses in favor of countries in need of vaccines such as Albania, Kosovo, Libya, Yemen and Indonesia.
With this move, Italy has confirmed its commitment to help in the equal distribution of vaccine doses to countries in need based on the United Nations COVAX program.
Italy, said the head of Italian diplomacy, has contributed over 385 million Euros within this program. Official Rome, according to Di Maio, is aware that the lack of coping with widespread and synchronized vaccination between different areas of the planet risks that the virus will continue to transform and the risk remains quite high.
Italy has so far carried out over 75 million doses of anti-Covid vaccines. More than 67% of the population over 12 years of age were vaccinated with both doses.
The objective of the Italian authorities is to vaccinate around 15% of the resident population by September 80. In the opposite case, said the Secretary of State for Health, Pierpaolo Sileri, we will evaluate the forms of forced vaccination.
