Prosecutors from Romania's National Anti-Corruption Office have arrested former Transport Minister Alexandru-Rezvan Cuc on corruption charges.
The arrest was made after searches were carried out at the residence of former minister and entrepreneur Ketel Daniel Bushe. An investigation is underway on suspicion of bribery and collusion.
According to Romanian media, the former minister was an intermediary in an attempt by an entrepreneur to pay a bribe of 6% of a contract worth 23 million lei (4.6 million euros) to the director of the Romanian Automobile Registry, which was intended to extend the term of the contract for the maintenance of vehicle inspection equipment.
