The Kosovo Police Inspectorate (KPI) has recommended to the Kosovo Police the suspension of seven police officers, regarding suspicions of mistreatment at the Podujeva Police Station.
Six of them served at the Podujeva police station, while another officer is from the Pristina Regional Directorate.
The PIK investigations began after suspicions that some police officers had mistreated two citizens, one of whom was a minor, while in detention.
PIK investigators, in coordination with the Basic Prosecution Office in Pristina, have expanded the investigations to include seven other officials for exceeding their authorizations during the use of force.
Currently, investigations are underway against six police officers for the criminal offense of "Mistreatment during the exercise of official duty or public authorizations", while a police lieutenant is suspected of the criminal offense of "Failure to report criminal offenses or their perpetrators".
In total, 11 suspected officials have been identified in connection with the case to this stage.
