This amazing photo of a roaring lion as a fly lands on the apple of its eye has won the 2021 Geographical Photo of Africa competition.
The image was selected from 25,023 competing photographs that aimed to bring a new perspective to the most fascinating continent.
In his assessment the judge said: “With a flick of the camera, this image managed to meet so many criteria of a great photo. technical perfection, catch time and expectation bring about this predicted behavior”.
Other finalists also received high praise
Competition Editor-in-Chief James Hendry said: “It was a special joy to receive your photos from the entrants, as they bring incredible perspectives of Africa. With your images you have told a story, stirred emotions and captured the essence of Africa".
"But we are human and the judging cannot be completely objective, nothing stops your photos from shining in other competitions".
