Massive flooding and destruction
New York declared a state of emergency as powerful Hurricane Ida approaches, bringing heavy rainfall and massive flooding.
As it crossed vast territories of the east of the country, starting from Louisiana where it caused catastrophic damage, the hurricane has deepened to 25 the balance of victims in New York and New Jersey.
The strength of the winds has decreased, but the amount of precipitation has set records. In one hour, the water level in New York reached 20 centimeters, flooding many streets.
Many drivers found themselves unprepared in such a situation, while they found different ways to escape.
Most of the New York subway has suspended operations, as many stations were flooded.
The waters also flooded the first floors of dozens of houses. As in Louisiana, also in New York and New Jersey, the destruction of the hurricane is considerable.
