Hyundai: Nobody wants cars with manual transmission!

Today, no one wants to drive a new car with a manual transmission, says Hyundai's boss for Europe.

Hyundai previously offered the i30 N sports model with a manual transmission. This car is no longer available.

According to Hyundai's technical director for Europe, Tyrone Johnson, there are simply no buyers for such cars anymore, as he said in an interview with Car Magazine. It is clear, from their experience, that all drivers want automatic transmissions.

However, Tyrone Johnson is mainly referring to the American market. There, only 30 percent of sales of the all-new Elantra N model, which is still offered with three pedals, were equipped with a manual transmission.

The rest had an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. All other models are available only with an automatic transmission.

Hyundai isn't the only one ditching manual transmissions these days. BMW has already stated that the current M2 will be the last car with a manual transmission. /Telegraph/
