German authorities say that the attack was intentionalëm
Seven people at a university in West Germany are receiving medical attention after being poisoned.
German authorities have opened an investigation into the suspected assassination attempt. Employees and students at the Technical University in Darmstadt, south of Frankfurt, had health problems.
Police say milk cartons and water containers in one of the buildings on campus have been contaminated with a harmful substance. It is reported that the poisoned persons are out of danger for life.
Police and prosecutors said they are also checking other university buildings as a precaution, but have been unable to find anything related to the suspected poisoning.
In a statement, the police announced that they are doing everything possible to identify the perpetrator.
Prosecutor Robert Hartmann told reporters that while authorities believe the infection may have been intentional, they currently have no information indicating a specific person who could be the possible perpetrator. Currently, the samples taken at the university are being analyzed in the police laboratories.
Meanwhile, the substance has been identified, but no further details can be given due to the security of the investigation.
