Germany declares Kosovo and North Macedonia as high risk areas

Travelers from these countries must register on the relevant portal before entering Germany. The unvaccinated or uncured must spend a minimum of 5 days in quarantine.

Starting from Sunday, August 22, 2021, Kosovo and North Macedonia are considered areas of particularly high risk for the spread of the coronavirus. This was announced by the German Robert Koch Institute (RKI) on Friday afternoon on its website.   

In addition to these two countries, Brazil, Dominica, Greece - the regions of Crete and the South Aegean (starting on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at midnight), as well as Ireland, were added to the list of particularly high risk areas. border and western regions. 

The RKI removed Andorra and some regions of Spain from the list of particularly high risk areas. 

What now applies to travelers from Kosovo and North Macedonia? 

According to Germany's foreign ministry, travelers who, starting on August 22, have been in a high-risk area in the previous 10 days, must register on the portal www.einreiseanmelde.de before leaving for Germany and having the proof of registration with them. 

If they are not vaccinated or recovered from the corona virus, they must take a negative test. In Germany they have to spend 10 days in quarantine. The quarantine period is automatically shortened to 5 days for children under the age of 12 and for adults who after five days prove a negative corona test result.

Excluded from this rule are persons who: 

a. have been in transit to a high-risk area or area of ​​virus variants, 

b. are in transit through Germany and leave the country as soon as possible;/DW
