The Sports Medicine Clinic has not had more patients in any of the waves of the spread of the coronavirus. Only for three days in this clinic intended for the treatment of cases with COVID-19, all capacities have been filled. While about 90 patients are currently being treated, few are vaccinated.
The director of the Sports Medicine Clinic, Artan Ahmeti, spoke about the situation in this clinic and the capacities they have available for the treatment of these cases.
"Actually, maybe even below zero because we have never had such a fast increase in any wave, while we have never had such a large number of hospitalized patients in any wave so far. It is a very large number and the requirements for hospitalization are very large. In the Sports Medicine Clinic, all capacities were filled for three days", Ahmeti declared for KP.
In the last 24 hours alone, 16 new cases have been received in this clinic, but Ahmeti says that their general condition is stable.
"In the Infectious Diseases Clinic 2, in the facility of Sports Medicine, there are currently 95 opportunities for hospitalization and the capacity is almost full every day, but every day we also have admissions and discharges. So in the last 24 hours alone we have had over 16 admissions and 13 releases. The general condition of the patients is stable, but we also have severe. "Most patients are on oxygen therapy," says Ahmeti.
This wave of coronavirus distribution, Ahmeti says, has identified the affected age groups.
"Young age is more affected, the average age makes up the majority of hospitalized patients. "As for the symptomatology, it is approximately the same, although from time to time the gastrointestinal aspect dominates.… In general, it is the average age, because vaccination in this age group has remained, very few have been vaccinated", he adds.
Citizens being treated in Sports Medicine are rarely vaccinated.
"Most patients are unvaccinated. "Five patients are on one dose of the vaccine and four patients are on two doses of the vaccine."
The Director of Sports Medicine, Artan Ahmeti, also tells about other organizations that are being made to increase capacities.
"We are discussing the opening of new capacities, which are being discussed. It's still not a definite decision as to when, because there are still vacancies on schedule. However, there is another flame of Sports Medicine, which we just visited with the director. "Even there there is a capacity of close to 100 patients who can be treated," he said.
He called on all citizens to respect the basic anti-COVID measures, but according to him, the Ministry of Health should decide on new measures, as the health system is fragile.
In the last 24 hours, over 2 positive cases have been confirmed, while 16 people have lost the battle with this infection.
