Health ministers of the G20 member countries will meet on September 5 in Rome, Italy to discuss global efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus and the next steps to be taken to deal with the pandemic.

Discussions will also focus on strategies to be prepared to face future pandemics.

The organizers of the meeting in Rome said that its purpose is to present a message of cooperation and solidarity.

The Italian Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, met with mental health experts on September 4. He said that there can be no general health and well-being without mental health.

"In the difficult months of the pandemic, this has become even more important," he said.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has called on world leaders to commit to regulating equal access to vaccines against COVID-19, in order to prevent a new wave of infections.

"There are probably 20 people in the world who are decisive for solving this problem of equality", said the senior official of the WHO, Bruce Aylward.

"We need those 20 people to say: we will solve this problem by the end of September. We will make sure that 10 percent of each country is vaccinated," he said, AFP reports./REL
