German virologist: Mass immunization returns infections to normal

The pandemic is in its final stages and the globe may be free of it by next year. The hopeful conclusion is given by the German virologist Klaus Shtyr, part of the WHO teams on the coronavirus, who joins the opinion of that group of experts who say that mass immunization reduces the damage of Covid-19 to health.

In an interview with the German press, the virologist Shtyr explains the mechanism of how by next summer, Covid-19 infections in Germany will return to normal.

"In Germany, the situation is easing as there are fewer and fewer unvaccinated or uninfected people. After this winter, this category will be in the quotas of 5-10%. At the beginning of next year, we will see a drastic relief of the situation. Then the pandemic will have passed".

For countries with low vaccination rates, Shtyr predicts an end to the pandemic with more damage.

"Already in countries with low levels or no access to the vaccination process, the end of the pandemic can be achieved through high levels of infections passing through, which unfortunately cause even greater damage."

However, different groups of experts do not rule out the possibility of the circulation of more severe mutations than the ones so far, which could even nullify the power of the immunity created so far against Covid-19.
