A baby born with a rare genetic disease has undergone five surgical interventions in the first eight weeks of his birth in a real battle for life.
Micah McEwan has been diagnosed with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia, which has caused a hole in the latter. The parents had not heard of this disease before, about which they were informed in the 21st week of pregnancy and were advised to abort the child.

They decided to take the risk which offered a 50/50 chance after 15 miscarriages, although it was a severe blow to learn about the disease. When he was born, Micah only had 25% of his lungs, which left him little chance of life, and just days later, he underwent surgery to help grow his lungs.
The toddler's disease affects one in 2000 babies and is caused by internal organs entering the chest space and blocking lung growth. The surgery on the newborn's body consisted of moving the organs back into place, but they had to wait 3 weeks before they could sew up the abdomen as it was too small to hold.
So far, Micah has undergone kidney interventions and dialysis, but there is a significant improvement that has exceeded the expectations of the doctors.tvklan.al
